CI's or CAM's |
|
| CAM-modules are meant to decode certain coding systems. You need a Irdeto CAM to decode Irdeto broadcasts. And if you want to decode Seca broadcasts, you will need a Seca CAM. But keep in mind. It will take more than the correct type of CAM alone to view a coded broadcast. So you will not only need a Seca CAM to view a Seca coded broadcast. You will need a valid smart card too. If you want to know what CAM you should choose, you first have to decide what channels you would like to receive. In other words, which provider do you fancy. As soon as you have made up your mind about that, you need to find out what coding the chosen provider utilizes. In the links section you will find link to sites that provide such information. Now that you have made your pick, you can go out to buy the CAM of your choice. Here you see some examples of CAM's. ![]() How does it work (in a nutshell): Signals transmitted without any coding, can be received by every (suitable) receiver and turned into a proper TV signal. Coded signals that are not scrambled, can be viewed if you have a receiver capable of decoding that code system. So if a provider broadcasts in Seca for example and they decide to offer an unscrambled preview, you can watch that broadcast if you have a receiver capable of decoding Seca. However, if you have a Irdeto receiver, you will not see a proper image on your TV screen. If a signal is broadcasted in Seca coding and with a specific provider scrambling on top of that, you will need not only a proper Seca receiver, but you will need a valid smart card too in order to display a proper TV image.
