The Fun programmer: (Category Other Programmers)

This programmer is the only one, described on these pages, to be connected to the parallel port of your PC. The Fun programmer is built to program only 1 card type: the Fun card.
The best software to use with this programmer is the Funcard EEprom editor, also called FunProm.

The Fun programmer doesn't need an external power supply. As one of only few programmers, this one will use the power supplied via the parallel port of your PC.

When working with FunProm, please make sure that you load the files in the same order in which they are presented on your screen: Flash, Internal eeprom (if needed) and External eeprom. The software tends to be sensitive to this procedure. Then the software will ask you if you want to verify during programming. Answer this question with NO always, otherwise you will certainly end up with error messages.

For those of you who have a fetish for flashing lights, the SMD version of the Fun card is available with lights on it. You can have them in a 3 light version as shown down here, but it is also available in a 7 light version. Your files will have to support the lights though.
Many of the 3-in-1 files for the Fun card support 3 lights, to show you what coding system is currently used: Irdeto, Seca or Viaccess.

Please make sure that you insert the cards with the contacts facing down because the programmers contacts are on the PCB.

Remark on the SMD Fun card:
As this type of SMD Fun card has contacts on both sides of the PCB, you need to be careful how you insert the card. When programming, the side your facing in this photo, is the side that should face down when inserted in the programmer.
If you turn the card upside down, the card is compatible with a MultiMac card.
