The Gold/Millenium programmer: (Category Other Programmers)
When working with GW Pic cards only, this is all you need. Combined with the Gold*Card software, this is a very comfortable solution to program your card. I agree that the Gold programmer and the Millenium programmer don't look simmilar at all. And they aren't. Their layouts are completely different. But as far as the Gold*Card software is concearned, they behave identical. So from a software point of view, they look similar enough to be mentioned on 1 page.
The Gold/Millenium programmer is a serial device and requires an external power supply of 12 Volt at least. But as there are GW Pic cards requiring 13,5 Volts to be programmed, you better go for such a power supply. And make sure it's a stable power supply which needs to deliver at least 500mAmp as well.
Below you'll see 2 different version of the Gold programmer:
On the left the classic version in a combination of SMD and HMD technique. Next to that the Gold programmer in SMD technique only. Also shown is the GW Pic card, the card for which these programmers are used.

Please make sure that you insert the cards with the contacts facing down because the programmers contacts are on the PCB.
