Infinity USB Phoenix programmer |

| Review date 2003/07/16 The Infinity USB Phoenix Programmer: (Category Universal programmers) Below you see the brandnew Infinity USB Phoenix programmer. With its 2 seperate interfaces, it is a real hybrid programmer. It contains both a USB interface and a Serial interface. That combination makes it a very powerfull programmer indeed. As from this moment on, this is my new personal favourite and I would recommend it to anybody without any hesitation or doubt. ![]() Please insert the card with the contacts facing down!!! The combination of USB and Serial interfaces in one programmer has been long awaited. Ever since the introduction of the first USB programmer, I have been convinced that some day someone would add Phoenix mode capabilities to it. And now, finally, it has become reality. The extra Serial interface makes this new Infinity a package that is hard to beat. If at all. Thanks to the added Phoenix/Smartmouse mode capabilities, this new Infinity now qualifies as a real universal programmer. And in that league it is the new benchmark for all of the competition. When it comes to programming speed, none of the Universal competition comes close. And it is good to know that the Infinity does support almost every card type. It certainly supports all popular card types. Apart from the proprietary Infinity software, I have tested the Infinity with MKFind, ISVedit and Cardinal (GSM card SW) and they all worked without problems. If by now, you have got the impression that I am enthousiastic about this new Infinity, well you are right. I love this one. But am I blinded with love? Well uhhh...... no. Hard sighted maybe ;) but not completely blind. I really thought about it very hard, but I cannot come up with any shortcomings. At least not in the programmer itself. There are still some remarks to be made though: - I miss the possibility to seperately verify anything on the card - The manual looks nice at first, but.... Really, it does look nice at a first brief glance. It's just...... well, if you get a manual with any product, you expect to be able to read it don't you? Now that's the problem here. The explaining texts are readable, but the illustrations (screenshots) are unreadably small and do therefor add nothing at all to making the manual better understandable. I do understand that the manual was intentionally kept small, but there really was no need overdoing it. The screenshot below will vary in size, depending on your scree size and resolution, but it will for probably be about accurate for most of you. Actualy the total width is 16 cm. ![]() OK, enough about the manual. Let's sum it up: Pro's: - it is well built in a good quality enclosure - it is a true universal programmer which makes it desirable for everyone - it is the fastest programmer currently on the market - it is very complete. It comes with an installation CD and a manual Cons: - the manual. If you supply a manual make sure it's readable | |
