CAS Interface Studio 3.3

Other functions of the CAS Interface 2.

1. Programming/repairing a receiver
2. The Phoenix/Smartmouse interface mode

(Re)programming a receiver:
Although the CAS Interface 2 is able to (re)program/repair a selection of receivers too, I dit not test this feature. I prefer to take their word for it that it works, rather than risk damaging my Dreambox :)

The picture below (which I took from the Duolabs website) shows you how to connect the CAS interface to a Dreambox. Please take care when connecting the flatcable that the orientation of the red side is similar to what you can see on this picture.

By the way, if you have a harddisk installed in your Dreambox, you will need to remove that first. The header connector that you need access to, is located under the harddisk.

CAS Interface 2 - Dreambox

As said, the CAS Interface 2 can be used to program a selection of receivers, not just the Dreambox. If you want to know more about a specific receiver, please visit the Duolabs website. There you can find more detailed information, schematics and a support forum. So please don't email me for it, I can't help you.

Anyway, if you ever need to reprogram/repair your receiver, just connect your receiver according to the picture above, or (in case of another receiver than a Dreambox) carefully follow the directions on the Duolabs website.

If you are certain that everything is connected properly, you can power up your Dreambox safely.
Now start the software and hit the Dreambox picture.

You should now see a screen like this down here.
Now hit the Connect button and follow the directions on the screen.

That's all I'm affraid. As said, I don't want to risk my Dreambox so I never even tried to get past this stage and I hope I never have to :)

The additional Phoenix/Smartmouse modes:

If you click the Phoenix/Smartmouse button (the Smartcard chip) on the main menu, you are taken to the Phoenix/Smartmouse section of the program. This section is meant to offer Smartcard programming via the CAS Interface 2, but you will need a special add-on for it.

The Add-On should be released yesterday (May 10th), so I haven't had the opportunity to test it yet. All I could do, is click the Smartcard button in the main menu and I got a screen like the one shown below.

On the website I read that this Add-On does require a new version of Cas Interface Studio (v4.0 or above).
I just hope that in that version they have fixed this bug that I ran into.
When trying to exit this program section, I got this Run-Time error (see below).

Hopefully I get to test the Add-On someday soon.
