Programming with ISVedit 3b

Programming with ISVedit:

You can use ISVedit to program your card in 2 different ways:
1. write a complete eeprom file to the card
2. update a single key to the card

Writing an eeprom file to the card.
I assume that you have made all the necessary changes to the eeprom file, and are now ready to write the file to the card.
You can use the programming software that you are used to, or you can use ISVedit itself to do the job.
The only condition is that has to be met, is that the right flash file should already be on the card.
Through the use of that flash file, ISVedit is capable of writing the eeprom data to the card.
You can probably imagine that that will save a lot of time as you don't need to reprogram the flash anymore.

This is how programming with ISVedit works:
If you have not yet configured ISVedit ever before, then do so now.
Click the Configuration button.
Select the COM Port and Speed.
When you're done, click OK.

Switch on your programmer and insert your card now.
Set the appropriate (Phoenix/Smartmouse) mode.
Click the Write EEPROM button.

The eeprom on the card is now programmed.

That's all.
Your card is ready for use.
Isn't that a quick procedure :-)

But wait.......
It can be done even quicker.
You can use ISVedit to update the keys directly on the card, instead of using a file.

Updating a single key, directly on the card.
The fastest way to update keys on your card is, without doubt, writing directly to the card, without using a file as an intermediate step. Not having to update a file and programming that whole file to the card, is the most efficient way of programming.

Well, good news. That's possible with ISVedit.
And better still, it's a piece of cake really.
ISVedit needs to be configured correctly for this procedure. So if you have not yet configured the software, then do so now. There is a detailed description at the top of this page, how to do that.

OK then. After having started ISVedit, you will see the following screen, which will be known by now I guess.
Now turn on your programmer and switch it to the correct mode.
Put the card into the programmer.
Click CONNECT.

Now you can edit the keys the same way you were used to, with ISVedit.
Press EDITOR to get to the editors main screen.

For the sake of this sample, let's edit some keys on Seca provider 1.
So select the tab Seca 1-4.
Now press READ from Card to read the actual content from the card.

After a while, you will see all the data appearing. That's the current data on the card.

As said above, we are going to change the keys on the first Seca provider only.
So type in the new keys or copy and paste them to the right location.
Now tick the appropriate tick boxes for all the keys you want to update on the card.
Now press WRITE to Card.

You will see an hour glass appear to indicate that the keys are currently being updated.
As soon as the cursor turns back to normal, the update process is ready.
If you don't want to edit any other keys right now, just press Close.

To end the procedure the correct way, you need to close the connection to the programmer.
So press Disconnect now.

Well, that's all. Your card is ready for use.
Turn off the programmer now.

By the way, you can also use the 2 methods (direct and via a file) at the same time.
Just try it and experiment with it a little.
You will see that it is amazingly easy.

Have fun.
